Do we have mechanisms to support survivors

For many women the at end of abuse is financial ruin and homelessness. So many are forced to stay because we cannot fathom the impact until it touches close to home

According to the Conversation.com women who experienced domestic violence fared much worse financially after separating from their partner compared to those who didn’t face such violence, for women both with and without children. In addition to physical, emotional and psychological abuse the after effects almost inevitably has elements of economical abuse. It is all part of power play or a matter of control. Control and manipulation is a character trait of narcissistic personality disorder. According to Mayoclininc.org - Narcissistic personality disorder — one of several types of personality disorders — is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticism.
